Recap of the Cajun Rollergirls Game VS the Tallahassee Jail Break Betties

Final 140-100 Jail Break Betties Win in Great Game

Awesome roller derby game between the Cajun Rollergirls and the Tallahassee Rollergirls. The Cajuns drove between 7-9 hours and played their best game of the season despite being with out some very key players. The Cajuns had only 13 penalties the entire game, a major improvement over the last game against the Houston Rollergirls.

Cajuns deployed a much better strategy using power, speed and gamesmanship. In the end though they fell to Tallahassee Rollergirls. Tallahassee's size and level of competition in practice seemed to show throughout the game. Tallahassee started the first and second half hot  which proved to be enough. The Cajuns kept it close and with couple more jams going in their favor could have turned this one around fast.

Tallahassee's home track advantage also was a major factor in their win. Their crowd was amazing and the loudest place I have herd all season. Great job fans. Their venue is small compared to we have seen from most teams. They have a wall on both straight always called the Wall of Pain and was used by both teams.

The Cajuns came out hitting much more than usual with big hits from Psycho Beast, Green Dragon and first time starter Talk 0'Holic.

The Cajun's record is now 0 wins and 4 losses as they have a very tough schedule this year in their fist season as a fully sanctioned WFTDA team. Their next game is against the Cenla Derby Dames in Alexandria Louisiana on May 11th before they take a couple month break. In August they travel to Mobile Alabama to face the Mobile Derby Darlings on August the 24th.

I want to give a special thanks to Low Maim who is a star Jammer for the All star team the Capital Punishment for being a gracious host and I can't wait to come back.

I have posted 3 albums of pictures on my Facebook page http://www.facebook.com/jedlevron for anyone wanting to check them out.

Travel Day: Cajun Rollergirls headed to Tallahassee

Cajun Rollergirls are headed to Tallahassee Florida to play the 47th ranked league in the world. The Cajuns are not playing the All Star team but they are playing the 2nd team Jailbreak Betties. When you are ranked as well as Tallahassee their 2nd team is not for off from their first team and some of the members from the all star squad will be playing for Tallahassee.

The Cajuns are without a few notable athletes and skating short of 15 players. Notable missing is Bust Her Ballz and MissChievous, and Rumble Kittie.

I have been to practice and they are looking much better and improving everyday. They can keep this game close if they can avoid penalties and especially Power Jams.

Keep checking houmasports.com for score updates (pending cell reception) and Add me to Facebook for game photos. http://www.facebook.com/jedlevron

Thanks Good luck to the other teams playing and Safe Travels!

Interview with Cajunrollergirls own Wailin' Thibodeaux!!!!

1. Roller Derby name, number and Position?
Wailin' Thibodeaux # 2406 Blocker

2. What League(s) have you been affiliated with?
CRG!!!!

3. How Long have you been skating?
I Started Skating with CRG in July of 2012. So right at 10 months.

4. How did you discover Roller Derby?
Before I found Roller Derby I took some Belly Dance classes. One of the girls that danced with the troupe turned out to be Swerve. I over heard Her and my teacher talking about Roller Derby and I thought how cool that they have something like this in Houma. I had only just heard about it in other states. Then one day in  walks this chick , with her short pixie like hair and her red and black feather earring in her ear. She was new in the class, but I didn't know she was with CRG  ,no one made a big deal about it. I remember Saying nice earring and Introduced  myself  and she introduced her self and we went on with class. After a while I stared to get more and more interested in what it was all about I loved belly dancing but needed something more. I wanted to be more challenged physically. So I had found out that my friend from high school Ashley ( you know her as Little Bad Ash) was also playing for Cajun Rollergirls. So I called her up and after a brief phone call on what I needed to do to get my skates and equipment I was at the Recruitment meeting and then Boot Camp. I found out shortly after that that girl with the red and black feather earring was Delirium Trigger. So cool how everything just kind of came together with me meeting these people at the right time and right place.

5. What type of work do you do outside of Derby?
I am a Full Time Mom to my two kids.

6. What other hobbies/activities/hidden talents do you do?
I still try to keep up with the belly dancing at home, I LOVE music....I still have a bit of band nerd in me from my younger days and keep up with my flute and French horn. I like to think I can rock a microphone in the local Karaoke bar when my courage is up. I own a couple of guitars but could benefit from some lessons! Like I said I love music.

7. What do you enjoy most about the sport?
I LOVE  how you have to push your self every time you get on that track. I've got to fight everyday to get out there and do my best. It has greatly improved my confidence and gives me the motivation to go and better my self on and off the track. I honestly don't know how I've made it this long with out Roller Derby.

8. What other sports have you played through the years?
I've never really played sports. I played recreational soft ball when I was 11!! For one season. They stuck me in Left Field....You don't see much action there....I guess that was the Point. I was Always at the skating rink as a kid though.

9. Describe your experience so for as a rollergirl?
Apart from my husband and kids it's one of the most positive experiences I've had ! I love the friendships I've made and how supportive everyone is to one another. I also love the all the stuff we do with the community. We give back a lot and that is amazing. I'm Bless and so thankful to be a part of something so amazing.
